As soon as it became apparent that we were going to be in the throes of a pandemic, Okotoks Rotarians jumped into action!

When it became apparent that a pandemic was upon us, Okotoks Rotarians first reached out to its active and honourary members to ensure all and their families were well, providing support where needed. Then, partnering with great community organizations such as the Western Wheel and The Okotoks Dawgs, we launched a community-wide food and cash drive for the Okotoks Foodbank, called Drive for Five. The campaign raised more food and cash than was targetted, a testament to our community spirit. Then, partnering with local dental offices and making use of 2020 Rotary District Conference bags, we stuffed them with hygiene items for moms and kids who are displaced and who access the services of Rowan House emergency shelter.

Since then, we have continued to serve our community with pathway clean up, packing school backpacks and harvesting the food bank garden.

Now, that we have been meeting for months on Zoom with the occasional socially distanced gathering or community project, Rotarians are set to resume bi-weekly meetings at Crystal Ridge Golf Course in September. We will use technology, allowing those who need to remain at a distance to connect via Zoom, while others will attend in person.

Okotoks Rotarians are indeed People of Action!
